IREM's Community Involvement Committee is preparing to host their last event of the year, and are focused on making a meaningful contribution to the Houston Food Bank. Everyone is welcome and if you, or your coworkers have an interest in lending a volunteer hand, please continue reading for additional details.
Description of Duties:
Varies with the makeup volunteers for shift. Most of the projects at the warehouse involve inspection, sorting, and repackaging of donated food items for community distribution.
Parking Information:
If space permits, you may park in the front parking lot, but in the event of a large volunteer turnout, you may be directed to our overflow lot located behind the building.
Attire Information:
CLOSED-TOE SHOES REQUIRED
Casual dress, long pants (preferred), t-shirt with sleeves
Bring work gloves if desired
If you reserved a volunteer shift in the kitchen, you MUST wear long pants or to-the-knee shorts (no short shorts), a shirt with sleeves (no tank tops, crop tops, or sleeveless shirts.
Special Notes:
We count on your generous donation of time; however, if you are unable to make it, please log in to your Volunteer Profile to cancel your registration.
HFB no longer allows outside food and drinks to be brought into our facility to share with group members since launching our onsite 535 Catering service in 2019.
For your safety, bags and purses are not allowed in project areas. Lockers are provided for storing any items you don't want to keep in your car, but keep personal and valuable items to a minimum (i.e., electronics, jewelry, money, etc.), as HFB is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
