Join us for this fun and lively networking breakfast which features Houston's hip historian and celebrity speaker. Mister McKinney is a dapper force with all the dirt and good stories about the buildings of Houston and the development projects and pitfalls that ultimately make us one of the largest, progressive metropolitan areas.

Mister McKinney is an active member in the historical community, he lectures at Rice University, gives weekly tours onboard Houston's only mobile history classroom, the Houston History Bus, and serves on the boards and commissions of numerous non-profit museums, libraries, educational organizations, including the Harris County Historical Commission, The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park, the LaPorte Bay Area Historical Society, president of the Bellaire Historical Society and the Houston Historical Foundation.

Since 2008 Mister McKinney has served as the resident historian for the Emmy Award-winning KHOU Channel 11's Great Day Houston with Deborah Duncan, appearing every two weeks with a segment on Houston History. Since August of 2016, Mister McKinney has chaired the City of Houston's annual birthday celebration at Sam Houston Park with Mayor Sylvester Turner and honorary chair Council Member Robert Gallegos, this year on August 30th Houston celebrated 187 years strong!

McKinney will present his take on important historical facts every Houstonian should know, including his favorite "Top 10 Things about Historic Houston Every Houstonian Should Know" and his "Gone From Houston" series that features landmark buildings, places, and experiences gone from the Houston landscape. His special talk to IREM Houston will explore the historical early commercial and multi-family housing with important figures in development, businesses and milestones that shaped the area.

You can also catch Mister McKinney's weekly radio show on 90.1 FM KPFT called "The Houston Hour with Mister McKinney and Heidi Vaughan" (of Heidi Vaughan Fine Art and president of the Houston Arts Foundation) at 6pm every Friday!
